Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
The 49ers let Stutsman fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Danny Stutsman, the No. 87 name on the board, sitting there at the 113th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Cornelius pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
A tidy little value on Tyler Booker in the 43rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku in the 56th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jackson at pick 62 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Good price on Omarr Norman-Lott in Round 3, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A quiet steal in No. 100: Andrew Mukuba for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach slot 113 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
They paid sticker price for Dorian Strong in pick No. 117, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jordan James
A running back of that caliber at No. 138 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
They took Pat Bryant at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at Round 5, Pick 13 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick160 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 160th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in pick No. 200 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
