Grand theft in slot 226: the Cardinals steal Dixon and grade out a D.

The Cardinals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Milton III left real value on the table behind him. The Dixon pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
No edge and no loss on Troy Franklin in pick No. 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in No. 66, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick71 Rnd3 Edgerrin Cooper
Steal is underselling it; Edgerrin Cooper at Round 3, Pick 7 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
The board had Chau Smith-Wade higher than the 138th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick162 Rnd5 Dylan Laube
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dylan Laube in the 162nd pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick 186 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick226 Rnd7 Johnny Dixon
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 226 is the definition of value, full stop. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
