The Bills checked most of the boxes and earned a B. The Bills spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Caedan Wallace, the No. 213 name on the board, in the 248th pick.
Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Worthy in pick No. 60. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher is a better player than pick 128 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick132
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at Round 4, Pick 32 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 134 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144
Rnd5
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis in pick 144 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
Value said wait; Jordan Jefferson in No. 160 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick163
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
They reached a country mile for Joe Milton III at the 163rd overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick189
Rnd6
Sione Vaki
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sione Vaki in the 189th pick, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick200
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
A quiet steal in slot 200: Cornelius Johnson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick204
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick214
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
The board had Steele Chambers higher than the 214th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248
Rnd7
Caedan Wallace
Circle this one: Caedan Wallace at slot 248 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
