Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a B for the Giants.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Mitchell Evans, the No. 143 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 246th overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
No edge and no loss on Cam Ward in the 3rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick38 Rnd2 Princely Umanmielen
Good price on Princely Umanmielen in slot 38, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick65 Rnd3 Aireontae Ersery
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 1 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick99 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at slot 99 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at pick No. 105 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
You do not let a cornerback like Denzel Burke reach the 144th overall pick and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick154 Rnd5 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo slipping to the 154th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd7 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick246 Rnd7 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at No. 246 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
