Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureA-
The Bengals worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-. The Bengals clearly saw something nobody else did in Evan Anderson, taking him 64 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Wilson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Josh Myers chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In the end it comes back to Jordan Morgan, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick36
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
The board had Jordan Morgan higher than pick 36, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Circle this one: Troy Franklin at pick No. 49 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A quiet steal in the 91st pick: Roman Wilson for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the 92nd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick102
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in No. 102 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
They did well to land Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 6, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick115
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
They liked MarShawn Lloyd enough to skip the value, taking him in the 115th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade in the 128th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick156
Rnd5
Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick169
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A tidy little value on Joe Milton III in slot 169, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 173, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick184
Rnd6
Zion Logue
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zion Logue this early at Round 6, Pick 9. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
They took Jared Wiley at par in No. 196, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick209
Rnd6
Evan Anderson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Anderson well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
