Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B+.

The Frank Gore Jr. selection is the head-turner. The Bears reached 71 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Chestnut.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick42 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu in the 42nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 3, Pick 5 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick105 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
They liked Brenden Rice enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 105. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128 Rnd4 Cade Stover
A premium they did not need to pay, Cade Stover a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick142 Rnd5 Khyree Jackson
A tidy bit of business in pick 142, where Khyree Jackson graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick183 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They reached into another round for Frank Gore Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick210 Rnd6 Darius Robinson
The board had Darius Robinson higher than No. 210, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226 Rnd7 Duce Chestnut
Duce Chestnut at Round 7, Pick 6 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
