Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Noel: D. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 34 spots for Hunter Wohler, and value like that does not grow back. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Omarion Hampton
In pick No. 31 they get a lead back with juice. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
No edge and no loss on Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 31; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66
Rnd3
Charles Grant
This one needs a full-page explanation: Charles Grant in slot 66, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick97
Rnd3
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in No. 98 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
Fair-plus on Nohl Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick226
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
They talked themselves into Hunter Wohler at pick 226, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick251
Rnd7
Marcus Yarns
They liked Marcus Yarns enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 251. It fills a real need, too.
Pick257
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at the 257th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
