Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in slot 237 lands the Packers a B-, Higgins and all.

The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jay Higgins, the No. 207 name on the board, in the 237th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Ritzie pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
They liked Josh Conerly Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the 23rd pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick54 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 54 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Paul Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick124 Rnd4 Devin Neal
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to pick 124, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Somehow Mello Dotson was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick198 Rnd6 Tyler Cooper
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Cooper at slot 198 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Taking Jay Higgins in Round 7, Pick 21 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jahvaree Ritzie
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jahvaree Ritzie in pick No. 250, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
