Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B to prove it.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Browns would have aced it. Jahvaree Ritzie at Round 6, Pick 16 is 78 spots clear of where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Getting Blue where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick No. 2 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jahdae Barron
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at No. 33 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 David Walker
They reached into another round for David Walker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
A tidy bit of business in slot 94, where Barrett Carter graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jalen Royals
The board fumbled Jalen Royals all the way to the 104th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick179 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 3 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jahvaree Ritzie
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jahvaree Ritzie. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200 Rnd6 Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III at slot 200 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
Taking Jaydon Blue in the 216th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick255 Rnd7 Donovan Smith
Donovan Smith in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
