Wyattw90 DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
C+
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Commanders: C+. Nobody else had Kaimon Rucker anywhere near the Round 2 slot. The Commanders did, by 87 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They banked enough surplus on Felton to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
If Kenneth Grant and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In slot 29 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kaimon Rucker
They reached a country mile for Kaimon Rucker at the 61st overall pick, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton at pick No. 128 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick205
Rnd6
Shemar James
A big swing on Shemar James at pick 205, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at No. 245 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
