Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Getting Cohen where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick11 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick 11 they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Nice patience on Keon Coleman, who had no business lasting to pick No. 51. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at No. 75 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107 Rnd4 Xavier Legette
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach the 107th overall pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in slot 109 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick119 Rnd4 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo at the 119th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
They did well to land Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in Round 4, Pick 21, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick160 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
A slide stopped in pick 160, with Justin Eboigbe worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick166 Rnd5 Marist Liufau
They barely believed it either: Marist Liufau still on the board at the 166th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick170 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 170th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in No. 171 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick210 Rnd6 Javion Cohen
Circle this one: Javion Cohen at pick No. 210 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
