The Chargers found their guy under center in McCarthy: D.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chargers took Austin Reed at the Round 6 slot, roughly 79 spots before his name belonged. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They have staked the next five years on J.J. McCarthy, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Rakestraw Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
