Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Cowboys robbed the room for Taaffe. Final grade: D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Halton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Taaffe falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 12th overall pick they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick20 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
They took Kayden McDonald at par in pick 20, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick30 Rnd1 Akheem Mesidor
By-the-book stuff, Akheem Mesidor at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick90 Rnd3 Treydan Stukes
They robbed the room for Treydan Stukes here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Steal is underselling it; Michael Taaffe at pick No. 92 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick112 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 12, with Bryce Lance worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick118 Rnd4 Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton at No. 118 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177 Rnd5 Keagen Trost
Keagen Trost in slot 177 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190 Rnd6 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at the 190th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
