Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Steelers.

The Steelers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Dwight McGlothern at slot 119 regardless, 64 picks early. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Mims. The Van Pran pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In slot 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
Circle this one: Amarius Mims at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick84 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Sedrick Van Pran adds an offensive lineman and leaves interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots untouched.
Pick98 Rnd3 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
A wild overpay on Tyrone Tracy Jr. in No. 98, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119 Rnd4 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at Round 4, Pick 19 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick178 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Value said wait; Joe Milton III in the 178th overall pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Ryan Flournoy
By-the-book stuff, Ryan Flournoy at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
