FutureB-
The Giants found their guy under center in Dart: C+. The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Jaxson Dart, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
Getting Bowman Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Reaching for Dart left real value on the table behind him. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In pick 11 they get their guy under center for the next decade, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 2, with Walter Nolen worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick43
Rnd2
Bradyn Swinson
They jumped the gun on Bradyn Swinson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick65
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the 65th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick99
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant slipping to the 99th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Danny Stutsman at No. 100 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick105
Rnd4
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at slot 105 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
They barely believed it either: Billy Bowman Jr. still on the board at pick No. 147. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at Round 5, Pick 16 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
Value with a capital V on Kyle Monangai in the 219th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick246
Rnd7
Sam Brown Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sam Brown Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
