Draft Grade — Vikings

McCarthy is the plan now, and the Vikings grade out a B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting McCarthy proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
J.J. McCarthy
In slot 11 they get the arm they will build around, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick23
Rnd1
Darius Robinson
In pick No. 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick73
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at pick 73 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
