Sean Landeta Madden Career 1992-2005 - Peak 92 OVR

Sean Landeta's most famous punt is the one he never hit. In a January 1986 playoff at a windblown Soldier Field, he swung his leg and the ball skipped off the side of his foot, and the Bears scooped it up for a touchdown. He spent the next two decades making people forget it. Landeta came out of Towson and the USFL's Philadelphia Stars, won two titles there, then joined the Giants and added two more rings in Super Bowls XXI and XXV. He earned three first-team All-Pro nods and made the All-Decade teams of both the 1980s and 1990s.

He kept going long past when punters usually quit, suiting up at 44 as the oldest man ever to punt in an NFL game across a 22-year career. Madden charts the back half of that marathon. He is a curious 40 in the 1996 edition, jumps to 83 by 2000, slides to 67 in 2001, recovers to 82 in 2002, and tops out at 89 in the 2003 game before settling at 88 the following year.
