The blocking tight end who outlasted Jason Witten

Jacksonville took Marcedes Lewis 28th overall out of UCLA in 2006, and for one season he was a genuine scoring threat. His 2010 year brought ten touchdowns and his only Pro Bowl nod, a burst of production from a player whose real value lived elsewhere. Almost everything after that was about the hands-in-the-dirt work most fans never notice.

He gave the Jaguars twelve seasons, then reinvented himself as a pure blocker in Green Bay from 2018 to 2022, added stops in Chicago and Denver, and kept going into his forties. In 2024 he passed Jason Witten's mark for games played by a tight end, and he became the oldest player ever to line up at the position. More than 500 catches and 40-plus touchdowns are on the ledger, but the durability is the headline.

Madden logged the whole shape of it. He opened at 82 in the 2006 edition, hit a career-high 90 in the 2011 edition off that Pro Bowl season, then settled into the mid-to-high 70s as his job narrowed to sealing the edge, down to a 75 in the 2024 edition when he was still suiting up at 40.
