Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s aggressive and willing, with more than enough size, when asked to chip block or pick up blitzers. Hemby has the potential to be one of the league’s best in that area.
- An excellent blocker on the outside, Hemby also adds value in the running game.
- He’s capable as a receiver, a weapon on swing passes and in the screen game.
- He shows good vision and good explosion upfield once he plants his foot. He has lateral movement skills and enough speed to threaten big plays. He’s excellent in the passing game, capable of flexing out as a receiver and creating mismatches against linebackers, and he’s a solid back in the screen game.
- He’s a weapon in the screen game, quickly transitioning from receiver to runner and showing the twitch to make defenders miss in space.
- Hemby combines good speed with his size, and he accelerates off the line better than most big receivers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- He’s shaky in pass protection, capable of making the correct reads but too reliant on cut blocks. When Hemby does stay on his feet, he too often ducks his head and lunges.
- As a runner, he too often looks to bounce outside and make the big play, rather than pick his way through traffic.
- Hemby is on the small side and not a classic workhorse back. Teams should be hesitant to give him a big workload, at least as a rookie.
