The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Nobody had Kenyatta Jackson Jr. this high, and it is not close. The 49ers reached 35 spots to get him at the 90th overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Ponds pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Gennings Dunker
In the 26th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kenyatta Jackson Jr.. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
The board had D'Angelo Ponds higher than No. 127, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick133 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch slid further than he should have, and pick No. 133 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 Terry Moore
Terry Moore in Round 4, Pick 38 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison at the 171st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
