Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The Patriots let Davis fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Ray Davis, the No. 109 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot.

They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In slot 3 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick55 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and pick No. 55 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68 Rnd3 D.J. James
Nothing to complain about; D.J. James went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick86 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at Round 3, Pick 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Good price on Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ray Davis
They barely believed it either: Ray Davis still on the board at No. 139. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the 159th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick182 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy in pick 182 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A quiet steal in pick 232: Brevyn Spann-Ford for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
