FutureB-
The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Chargers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Delp value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Nice patience on Caleb Banks, who had no business lasting to the 55th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Logan Jones
No edge and no loss on Logan Jones in pick 89; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick123
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Lance at the 123rd pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore is a better player than Round 4, Pick 29 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Oscar Delp in slot 204. The roster fit checks out.
