Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots let Moore fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in No. 247 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Louis Moore, the No. 154 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Robertson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 R Mason Thomas
In pick 31 they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They will replay Olaivavega Ioane at No. 63 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick125 Rnd4 Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams at the 125th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131 Rnd4 Keith Abney II
A cornerback of that caliber at the 131st pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick171 Rnd5 Genesis Smith
They robbed the room for Genesis Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick191 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at slot 191 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick198 Rnd6 Aaron Graves
A straight-up fair deal on Aaron Graves at Round 6, Pick 17, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Circle this one: Marlin Klein at pick No. 202 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick212 Rnd6 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in No. 212 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick247 Rnd7 Louis Moore
Louis Moore in slot 247 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
