Somebody in pick 171 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Carson Beck, the No. 113 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
