J DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B. Nobody else had Isaiah Jatta anywhere near the 220th overall pick. The Bills did, by 26 spots, and that gap is the whole story. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Moore to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
KC Concepcion
In the 26th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick91
Rnd3
Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis at Round 3, Pick 27 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
No drama and no debate, DeMonte Capehart went about where he belonged in pick No. 126. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick165
Rnd5
Louis Moore
They let Louis Moore come to them and pounced at slot 165. It fills a real need, too.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
Kaleb Proctor at No. 168 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220
Rnd7
Isaiah Jatta
A wild overpay on Isaiah Jatta in the 220th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
