Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA+
More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B to prove it.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Isaac TeSlaa. He came off 70 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In pick No. 14 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in the 39th pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
The board had cheaper options than Carson Schwesinger at slot 56, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick77 Rnd3 Deone Walker
By-the-book stuff, Deone Walker at No. 77 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick106 Rnd4 RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kyle Williams
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kyle Williams well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
No drama and no debate, Quincy Riley went about where he belonged in slot 144. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick171 Rnd5 Isaac TeSlaa
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaac TeSlaa this early at No. 171. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
No edge and no loss on Craig Woodson in Round 7, Pick 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick238 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai at the 238th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
