The phones sank the 49ers this weekend: D-.

There is reaching, and then there is Malachi Lawrence at the 84th overall pick. The 49ers jumped the board by 53 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Dontayvion Wicks deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
