Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall F
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesF FutureC
A weekend the 49ers spent fighting the board, and losing. F.

The 49ers torched the value chart for Jacob Rodriguez, taking him 36 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Fitzgerald pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the 21st pick they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick26 Rnd1 Trevor Goosby
In pick 26 they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59 Rnd2 Zion Young
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zion Young this early at No. 59. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Good price on Omar Cooper Jr. in pick No. 90, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bishop Fitzgerald at slot 127 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jyaire Hill
By-the-book stuff, Jyaire Hill at No. 138 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
They paid sticker price for Kyle Louis in the 171st overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
