Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Falcons cashed the board's mistake on Bernard: B-.

Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Falcons sat still while Germie Bernard, the No. 60 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They will need Foster to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick48 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 16 is lovely value for the linebacker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick95 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in the 95th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114 Rnd4 Taurean York
They did well to land Taurean York in pick No. 114, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126 Rnd4 Will Lee III
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Will Lee III at pick 126 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
Jakobe Thomas at slot 131 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at the 197th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Cole Payton
A big swing on Cole Payton at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick228 Rnd7 Noah Whittington
Noah Whittington in No. 228 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick231 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
They reached a country mile for Bryce Foster at Round 7, Pick 15, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247 Rnd7 Isaiah Jatta
They took Isaiah Jatta at par in pick 247, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
