Draft Grade — Texans

Lew should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B+. Somebody in slot 94 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Connor Lew, the No. 61 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
De'Von Achane gives the group a proven body among the projects. The cost of the Stowers reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In pick 28 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at No. 43 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Circle this one: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 69 is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick94
Rnd3
Connor Lew
They barely believed it either: Connor Lew still on the board at slot 94. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
No edge and no loss on Mike Washington Jr. in the 112th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
They read the board right and Ar'maj Reed-Adams was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
