Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B
ValueB

FutureA
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Commanders. The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 71st overall pick on Deion Burks a full 37 spots early. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They banked enough surplus on Hill Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Chris Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Somehow Dillon Thieneman was still sitting there in pick No. 55, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick62
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in the 62nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick71
Rnd3
Deion Burks
Deion Burks at pick 71 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147
Rnd5
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at slot 147 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Matt Gulbin
A reach for Matt Gulbin in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock at the 187th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick209
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
They paid a round early for Zxavian Harris in No. 209, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell in slot 220 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
