Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

TradesF
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a C, for the Patriots. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Guyton. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
If Sinnott pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
If Caleb Williams and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick No. 13 they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
A conviction pick on Patrick Paul at No. 34 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick68
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in pick 68; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77
Rnd3
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at Round 3, Pick 13 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103
Rnd4
Trey Benson
Circle this one: Trey Benson at the 103rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick112
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick139
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A reach for Ty'Ron Hopper in the 139th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jalen Green
Jalen Green at slot 182 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224
Rnd7
Ethan Driskell
Somehow Ethan Driskell was still sitting there in slot 224, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick232
Rnd7
Mark Perry
Mark Perry in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
