Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
More right than wrong for the Falcons, and a B- to prove it.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Falcons shredded theirs for Jam Miller. He came off 50 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

That Caldwell pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick59 Rnd2 Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II slipping to the 59th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick79 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in pick 79 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick114 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
A premium they did not need to pay, DeMonte Capehart a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick167 Rnd5 Taylen Green
Taylen Green in No. 167 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Matt Gulbin
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Matt Gulbin in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jimmy Rolder
A tidy bit of business in slot 231, where Jimmy Rolder graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234 Rnd7 Raylen Wilson
Value with a capital V on Raylen Wilson in pick 234, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick235 Rnd7 Jam Miller
They talked themselves into Jam Miller at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
The board fumbled Jeff Caldwell all the way to the 244th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
