Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills let Fields fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Malachi Fields got past him. The Bills do not have to explain a thing at pick 94. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Campbell proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at slot 26 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
They robbed the room for Malachi Fields here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
A reach for Jakobe Thomas in the 126th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick165 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in pick No. 165 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick168 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at the 168th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
The board had Ar'maj Reed-Adams higher than No. 170, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick177 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 37: Bryce Boettcher for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick218 Rnd7 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in pick 218 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Good price on Thaddeus Dixon in Round 7, Pick 4, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
