Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureA
More right than wrong for the Buccaneers, and a B- to prove it.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Buccaneers spent pick 155 on Red Murdock, a name the board had a full 30 spots lower.

That Hurst pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sonny Styles at pick 31 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick46 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas
A premium they did not need to pay, Gabe Jacas a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick77 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 13, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at the 116th pick is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick155 Rnd5 Red Murdock
They talked themselves into Red Murdock at pick No. 155, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick195 Rnd6 Ted Hurst
They will replay Ted Hurst at slot 195 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jadon Canady
They paid sticker price for Jadon Canady in pick No. 209, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick229 Rnd7 Isaiah Jatta
They liked Isaiah Jatta enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 229. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
