Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesD FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a C+ for the Patriots.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Getting Tupuola-Fetui where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Adding Charles Leno Jr. by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the 3rd pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick22 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
A premium they did not need to pay, Jack Sawyer a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
No drama and no debate, Jackson Powers-Johnson went about where he belonged in No. 73. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick224 Rnd7 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
You do not let an edge rusher like Zion Tupuola-Fetui reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
