Tackle Ted DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Akheem Mesidor at the 90th pick, a reach of 47 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In No. 26 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick59
Rnd2
Skyler Bell
A real head-scratcher, Skyler Bell in the 59th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90
Rnd3
Akheem Mesidor
A wild overpay on Akheem Mesidor in pick 90, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127
Rnd4
Tim Keenan III
A big swing on Tim Keenan III at pick No. 127, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick133
Rnd4
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
They took Keylan Rutledge at par in slot 138, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
A tidy little value on Max Iheanachor in Round 5, Pick 33, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
