Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD
The Cardinals found their guy under center in Mendoza: B.

Start where it matters. The Cardinals took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

Tucker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Landing Moore that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

With tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In slot 3 they get a passer to set the clock by. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
Somehow Arvell Reese was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 2, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick35 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at pick No. 35 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick36 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at the 36th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick37 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Nice patience on Sonny Styles, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick65 Rnd3 Zion Young
Circle this one: Zion Young at No. 65 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
The board fumbled Lee Hunter all the way to pick 66, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They read the board right and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was the payoff at the 67th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick68 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Omar Cooper Jr. in the 68th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
Good price on Jonah Coleman in No. 70, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick71 Rnd3 Blake Miller
Blake Miller is a better player than slot 71 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick72 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
A quiet steal in pick 72: Keionte Scott for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick101 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
You do not let an edge rusher like Derrick Moore reach Round 4, Pick 1 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102 Rnd4 Elijah Sarratt
Steal is underselling it; Elijah Sarratt at the 102nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103 Rnd4 Garrett Nussmeier
They will replay Garrett Nussmeier at pick No. 103 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick104 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
A big swing on DeMonte Capehart at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick105 Rnd4 Bud Clark
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Bud Clark adds a safety while tight end keeps waiting.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in No. 106 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Nadame Tucker
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nadame Tucker this early at the 107th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
