The Lions answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: D.

Somebody in pick No. 257 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Chase Bisontis, the No. 71 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
