Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cowboys: B. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Cowboys left wide receiver untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They will need Nelson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They banked enough surplus on Holker to cover a lot of smaller sins. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at the 62nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick93
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at slot 93 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick130
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They took Khyree Jackson at par in No. 130, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Schrader. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dallin Holker
A quiet steal in pick No. 212: Dallin Holker for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick251
Rnd7
Zion Nelson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zion Nelson this early at the 251st pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
