Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Saints, and a B to prove it.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jaishawn Barham at the Round 3 slot is 48 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Landing Orange that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot.
Pick42 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen in pick No. 42 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at slot 73 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Kobi Lane at the 92nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112 Rnd4 Domonique Orange
Taking Domonique Orange in the 112th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
The board had Bryce Lance higher than No. 132, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick136 Rnd4 Drew Allar
A reach for Drew Allar in pick 136; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150 Rnd5 Quintayvious Hutchins
This one needs a full-page explanation: Quintayvious Hutchins in the Round 5 slot, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at pick No. 172 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177 Rnd5 Zane Durant
Zane Durant in the 177th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick190 Rnd6 Josh Cameron
Nice patience on Josh Cameron, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 9. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
