Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots bet the future on Daniels. The board says B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Rouse has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In No. 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka in pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
A reach for Malachi Corley in pick No. 68; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 103rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
A conviction pick on Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 3 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
The board had cheaper options than Jase McClellan at slot 182, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
A big swing on Walter Rouse at the 224th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
