FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B. Nobody had Wesley Williams this high, and it is not close. The Steelers reached 78 spots to get him at slot 237.
Delp at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. It is not that World is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick76
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the 76th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick85
Rnd3
Parker Brailsford
A big swing on Parker Brailsford at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick99
Rnd3
Isaiah World
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Isaiah World in slot 99 leaves running back and wide receiver for later.
Pick108
Rnd4
Drew Allar
Drew Allar in pick No. 108 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick130
Rnd4
Beau Stephens
A surprising call. With running back and wide receiver still to address, they spent No. 130 on Beau Stephens, an offensive lineman they were not short of.
Pick135
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 35, with Davison Igbinosun worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
A tidy little value on Jalen Farmer in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick163
Rnd5
Febechi Nwaiwu
Febechi Nwaiwu at Round 5, Pick 23 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick196
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at slot 196 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick214
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
They reached a country mile for Robert Spears-Jennings at pick 214, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick216
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in No. 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Logan Taylor
Logan Taylor in the 224th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick237
Rnd7
Wesley Williams
Value said wait; Wesley Williams in pick No. 237 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick257
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
Nice patience on Fa'alili Fa'amoe, who had no business lasting to the 257th pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
