Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Vikings were there to profit. Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Pick-by-Pick
Dylan Fairchild in the 97th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick No. 140, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Joshua Farmer in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
