You build a draft on nights like this. Chris Paul Jr. had no business being available in pick 164, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Every board in the league had Hamilton lower, and that gap is the story. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
They went early on Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 31, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dylan Fairchild in the 95th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in pick No. 128, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Chris Paul Jr. at the 164th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ty Hamilton at slot 166 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at pick 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
