When a board-topper like Brashard Smith slides to pick 169, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
They will replay Tyler Warren at pick 32 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Aireontae Ersery slipping to Round 2, Pick 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dylan Sampson at the 96th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman at slot 129 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Lathan Ransom at No. 162 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Terrance Ferguson was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Brashard Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
