Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Dolphins let Lew fall and pounced. Final grade: C+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Connor Lew had no business being available in the Round 3 slot, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Jacas to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

If Gabe Jacas and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas
They talked themselves into Gabe Jacas at Round 2, Pick 11, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick46 Rnd2 LT Overton
They reached a country mile for LT Overton at slot 46, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick47 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Derrick Moore well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott is a better player than the 75th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in No. 90 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
No drama and no debate, Nicholas Singleton went about where he belonged in pick No. 95. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108 Rnd4 Sam Roush
They will replay Sam Roush at pick 108 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Good price on Michael Trigg in the 111th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick130 Rnd4 Eli Raridon
By-the-book stuff, Eli Raridon at No. 130 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer in pick No. 151 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick170 Rnd5 Marlin Klein
A straight-up fair deal on Marlin Klein at slot 170, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock in Round 5, Pick 31 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jeff Caldwell at the 227th overall pick is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick238 Rnd7 Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings at the 238th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick254 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
They paid sticker price for Nolan Rucci in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
