The phones sank the Dolphins this weekend: D.

The Dolphins looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Tyreak Sapp at No. 94 regardless, 33 picks early. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Sarratt where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

In the 11th pick they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that.

In slot 30 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.

No edge and no loss on Chris Johnson in the 32nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

They did well to land Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 11, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87 Rnd3 Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Sam Roush at No. 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
