The Patriots overdrafted Dobbs and paid the price. Grade: F. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Patriots took Jacob Dobbs at the Round 6 slot, roughly 216 spots before his name belonged. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
