Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA FutureC+
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Giants: B.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Giants would have aced it. George Gumbs Jr. at Round 6, Pick 5 is 86 spots clear of where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

However the rest shakes out, Dixon at that price is a win they earned. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Adding Nico Collins by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
A big swing on Omar Cooper Jr. at pick No. 37, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Keylan Rutledge
They jumped the gun on Keylan Rutledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Tacario Davis
A conviction pick on Tacario Davis at Round 3, Pick 30 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick105 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Harold Perkins Jr.. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
A real head-scratcher, J.C. Davis in slot 109 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick110 Rnd4 Hezekiah Masses
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Hezekiah Masses well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick126 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 26 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kaytron Allen
A tidy little value on Kaytron Allen in pick No. 145, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick186 Rnd6 George Gumbs Jr.
They reached into another round for George Gumbs Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jimmy Rolder
They talked themselves into Jimmy Rolder at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick192 Rnd6 Dae'Quan Wright
They let Dae'Quan Wright come to them and pounced at slot 192. It fills a real need, too.
Pick193 Rnd6 VJ Payne
VJ Payne in the 193rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick257 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in the 257th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
